Heavy with a Demon Heart ~ Chapter 1
Shattered glass. A shower of glittering, jagged pieces burst through the rear. One last metallic round put an end to the intricately webbed remains of our window.
"Blasted!" Grandpa muttered through gritted-teeth. He had one trembling hand gripped tightly on the steering wheel and the other, resting protectively on the small, frail form of Grandma. She was bleeding, bad. The men in uniforms had shot her many times. Their piercing steel chased us even now. The sound of siren wailed its death cry. Death is gaining on us.
"Grandpa?" Esmond whimpered, cowering in his seat beside me. Esmond is my twin, the elder, too. I caught his eyes. They mirrored mine, wide open and engulfed in fear. We were on highway 2, heading from Red Deer to Calgary. Being a work day, no one is in sight on this endless stretching path. No one but us and the police, and maybe them.
SCREEEEEECH goes the car behind us. Wearily. I pulled my legs up under me, climbing up in the seat. Slowly.
Baiting an Angel ~ Chapter 5
Our surroundings were a blur. Splats of colour. Streaks of light. It was a tunnel of beauty through which we surpass time and space itself, ignorant of all rules of nature. A window of eye-piercing brightness rushed towards us. The momentary blindness was soon replaced by a whole new palette. Lively green. Freedom blue. Confident gold. Heart-pounding pink.
We tilted acutely to one side, drifting a whole half turn before screeching to a stop. Engine now rumbling softly, the motorbike remained as a resting leopard, allowing time to slow down, allowing us to take in the fantasy land we've arrived upon.
"Lady Esdia!" cried out a gruff booming voice. A bearded old man dressed head to toe in pink was gasping for breath as he caught up to us.
"I I am most apologetic the most wasn't wasn't taken out of Master Asrys' arrival I had I had certain doubt of his identity plus he vanished before I could could deliver him to safety." It
